MUBC at Australian Masters Rowing Championships

MUBC Masters travelled to Penrith last week to compete at the Australian Masters Rowing Championships. In excellent conditions our Masters enjoyed the magnificent racing facilities of SIRC with some exciting performances and a substantial medal haul.
Congratulations to our gold medal winners Peter Antonie in the MF1x, Josie Bant, Pamela Whiting and Jenny Bingham and MUBC Alumni Geraldine Goss in the WG4X and to Jenny Bingham winning gold in the WE4X.
Silver medal highlights and congratulations to Al Isherwood in the MA2- & MB2-, Jenny Bingham in the WE8+, WF4X and in the WG1X missing gold by just 1.03 sec. Well done to Peter Antonie & Geoff Rees with silver in the MG2X and Pamela Whiting & Josie Bant in the WH-M2X missing gold by just 0.25sec. Josie, Pamela and Jenny combined again for a silver medal in the WH-M4X. In the Mixed F-G4X silver medals to Peter Antonie, and Greg Longden & Jenny Bingham.
In the Eights, the Mens I8+ lived up to the hype winning a silver medal and backed up to win silver again in the Mens Club Championship 8+. Well done to Jim Morrison, Paul Bridgeford, David Yates, Richard Parker, Paul Ferguson, Tom Wood, Mike Kerin, Greg Longden and cox Graham Bushnell.
Bronze medals and congratulations to Pamela Whiting in the WH1X, Mike Kerin & Tom Wood in the MI2X and Paul Ferguson, Tom Wood, Mike Kerin and Greg Longden in the MH4-.
In more great Eights racing, a bronze medal to the MG8+ of Paul Ferguson, Geoff Rees, John McKenzie, Greg Longden, Anthony Langford, James Peters, Sandy Marshall, Peter Antonie and Graham Bushnell (cox) behind two composite crews with the podium boats overlapping at the finish. Well done crew. The final bronze medal to the Mens H8+ of Paul Bridgeford, Tom Wood, Paul Ferguson, James Peters, Sandy Marshall, John McKenzie, Mike Kerin, Greg Longden and cox Graham Bushnell.
A few special mentions, to Jenny Bingham well done on competing in an exhausting eight events and to Doug Piening returning to competitive rowing. Great to see you out competing and enjoying your rowing Doug. But to all MUBC Masters athletes well done and congratulations on some highly competitive rowing and great to see complete MUBC crews at regatta.
