MUBC President Announcement

MUBC Members and Friends,

Christian Ryan MUBC Club President resigned from that position at the committee meeting held on 22 May 2024 due to the pressures of increased work and family commitments. The committee then elected Minnie Cade as President in line with the powers conferred on it by the constitution.

Christian served with distinction as President for 7 years. Happily, he still intends to be involved in the major issues currently facing the club. Minnie has served on the Boat Club Committee since 2009 and has worked continuously in the role of Club Vice President. A member of the Club for almost thirty five years, Minnie joined directly from school and has represented the Club at state and national level and at Intervarsity and World Student Games. She has represented Victoria and Australia on multiple occasions, medalling in international competition including winning Gold at the World Championships in 1992, Montreal.

While an extremely accomplished athlete, Minnie has worked tirelessly as a volunteer for the sport of rowing supporting Melbourne University Boat Club but also as a Victorian State Selector as a coach and as a co-founder of the rowing program at Albert Park College where she continues her work as founding President. As a graduate with multiple degrees from The University of Melbourne and alumna of Ormond College, Minnie brings direct experience of what it means to be an MUBC member.

The Club is indebted to Christian for his robust leadership and is very fortunate to have a person of Minnie’s calibre to step into the role.
